Is Climate Change Punishment by God?

In their recent front page article "Extreme Weather—Can the Bible Help You to Cope?" the Watchtower is once again attempting to tuckle the issue of climate change. They usually offer a cursory explanation of their position quoting a couple of scriptures but this time they are attempting to explain whether God is responsible for climate change.

So under the subtitle:

"Today’s extreme weather is not punishment from God" they have this to say:

"The Bible teaches that God is not responsible for the suffering that people experience. It assures us that “with evil things God cannot be tried, nor does he himself try anyone.” (James 1:13) This means that he is not behind the extreme weather people are experiencing today."

Not quite sure how this verse applies here, sure God is not trying people with evil things personally but in times of judgement He does punish people in general for their actions. The article continues:

"The Bible does record occasions when God used natural forces to punish wicked people. But those events were unlike destructive weather today, which comes without warning and strikes the good as well as the bad. In contrast, the Bible accounts show that God always protected the innocent, gave advance warning, and explained the reasons for his actions. For example, God explained why he was bringing the global Flood in Noah’s day, provided advance warning before he did so, and protected Noah and his family.—Genesis 6:13; 2 Peter 2:5."

Yes God provided advanced warning of an impending Flood in Noah's days 120 years in advance but he also does that today. In actual fact the apostle Peter recorded this2,000 years ago in his letter that the always like to ignore in the following chapter 2 Peter 3:5-7 where we read: "For they deliberately ignore this fact, that long ago there were heavens and an earth standing firmly out of water and in the midst of water by the word of God; 6 and that by those means the world of that time suffered destruction when it was flooded with water. 7 But by the same word the heavens and the earth that now exist are reserved for fire and are being kept until the day of judgment and of destruction of the ungodly people."

God has warned 2,000 years in advance through the letter in 2 Peter that the the earth will be destroyed by fire but the Watchtower like the scoffers of verse 5 the deliberately ignore this warning and promote the false hope that nothing will impact the earth and its climate in the future.

The important question during the last days will be whether God is responsible for the catastrophic climate conditions or man. If anything, the whole climate change movement that permeates all popular media today mainly promotes the idea that man is responsible for worsening climate conditions. I strongly believe that to be by design. The powers to be know what is coming and are brainwashing the public now to accept draconian measures when the change do come, then they can use that as an excuse for curtailing freedoms in the name of protecting the environment from yours and mine evil corruption. Remember, in order to achieve zero carbon footprint, all you have to do is stop breathing.
